Md. Atiqur Rahman Chowdhury

This is Atiqur. I am currently working as an Applications Development Engineer at KLA. I have recently completed my Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from NC State University. The journey of my graduate school began as I first got enrolled into the Ph.D program in Materials Science and Engineering department of Florida State University in Fall 2017. I started working under the supervision of Dr. Cheryl Xu. However, in Fall 2018, the research group moved to NC State University leading me to get transferred to the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department.

I have completed my undergraduate studies from Bangladesh University of Engineering And Technology (BUET) with a BS degree in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering (MME). And I have worked on 'Fatigue of Overaged As Cast Al-7Si-Mg Alloys'  under the supervision of Prof. A. K. M Bazlur Rashid during my undergraduate studies.

My graduate research study is on high-temperature advanced semiconductor ceramics fabricated via polymeric precursor routes. And my research interests cover the material science elements such as semiconductors, flexible electronics, additive manufacturing, polymer/ceramic/metal matrix composites for harsh environment applications.

Besides my own research topic, there are many different aspects of science that keep me curious.  I am deeply concerned about climate change and excited about the outer space and physics of semiconductors and electromagnetic shielding. I am also a reviewer of the Journal of Micro and Nano Manufacturing.

Successfully defended my Ph.D. in ME and passed unconditionally!!! Ph.Done!!

Our paper "Impedance Spectroscopy Study on the Two-phase to Three-phase Transformation in Polymer Derived SiC Pyrolyzed at High Temperature" has been published in Procedia Manufacturing. The electrical behavior and evolution of free carbon phase and ceramic phase in pristine polymer derived (PDC) SiC matrix with high pyrolysis temperature were studied by complex impedance spectroscopy.
